Rio Ferdinand has hailed David De Gea as the best goalkeeper in the world after Manchester United’s goalless draw with Liverpool on Monday night.

The Spain international had to be alert in the second half of the Premier League clash at Anfield as Liverpool managed to create a couple of chances.

De Gea got a strong hand to Emre Can’s low shot midway through the second half after the Germany international poked a shot towards the United goal.

The 25-year-old produced an even better save when Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho fired a long-range attempt on De Gea’s goal.

Former United defender Ferdinand, who played alongside De Gea for three seasons, hailed the Spain number one as the world’s best following his performance at Anfield.

Ferdinand wrote on his Instagram page: “What a guy… what a save! No1 GK in the world for me right now! @d_degeaofficial”

De Gea moved to United in a reported £19m deal from La Liga side Atletico Madrid in the summer transfer window.
