Rio Ferdinand highlighted the role of Michael Carrick in Manchester United’s 4-1 victory over Fenerbahce on Thursday night.
The 35-year-old midfielder was restored to Jose Mourinho’s starting line-up for the visit of the Turkish side in the Europa League.
Paul Pogba’s brace and goals from Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard sealed an emphatic victory despite Robin van Persie’s second-half strike for the visitors.
Carrick touched the ball 82 times during the landslide victory and finished with a pass completion of 97 per cent in a dominant performance in midfield.
The England international’s former United team-mate Ferdinand was quick to highlight Carrick’s influence on United’s Europa League triumph on Thursday night.
