Roy Keane delivers verdict on Alexis Sanchez in new Arsenal role
The former Manchester United captain is impressed with Alexis Sanchez in a forward role for Arsenal this season
Roy Keane believes Alexis Sanchez has been impressive in a striker’s role for Arsenal this season.
The Chile international scored Arsenal’s opening goal in an impressive 6-0 victory over Bulgarian side Ludogorets on Wednesday night.
Sanchez lifted a delicate finish over the opposition goalkeeper to help Arsenal cement their place at the top of Champions League Group A.
Arsene Wenger has used the former Barcelona man in a centre-forward role at the expense of France international Olivier Giroud since the start of the season.
Former Manchester United captain Keane is confident Sanchez can continue to thrive in his new role in the coming weeks and coming months.
“No doubt to me. He’s got the quality. He’s got the intelligence,” Keane told ITV Sport.
Sanchez has scored six goals and has made five assists in 11 games in all competitions for the north London outfit so far this term.
Arsenal will host promoted side Middlesbrough in their next Premier League game at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Chile forward moved to Arsenal in a £35m deal from La Liga giants Barcelona in 2014.
