Roy Keane’s response when asked if Arsenal are more ambitious this season
The Manchester United legend has been encouraged with Arsenal's start to the 2016-17 season
Roy Keane says Arsene Wenger’s current crop of players look stronger than previous Arsenal squads.
The Gunners were emphatic 6-0 winners against Bulgarian side Ludogorets on Wednesday night thanks to Mesut Ozil’s hat-trick to leave Arsene Wenger’s side at the top of their Champions League group.
Arsenal have won their last seven games in all competitions as the north London side look to keep pace with Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in the Premier League title race.
Wenger signed Switzerland midfielder Granit Xhaka, German centre-half Shkodran Mustafi and Deportivo La Coruna striker Lucas Perez in the summer transfer window.
Asked if he felt Arsenal were showing more ambition this season, former Manchester United captain Keane told ITV Sport: “I think so.
“Obviously a lot of their players are in good form at the moment.
“I know they’ve got previous in terms of blowing up towards the end of the season but I do think this group of players look a bit stronger than previous seasons.”
Arsenal haven’t won the Premier League title since 2004 but Wenger’s side finished in second place last season.
The Gunners won the FA Cup in 2014 and 2015 to end their silverware drought at the Emirates Stadium.
