Jose Mourinho still does not know his best team at Manchester United, according to Ryan Giggs

Ryan Giggs believes that Jose Mourinho has not yet worked out his best team for Manchester United this season.

The Red Devils have made something of a stuttering start to life under their new boss following his appointment as Louis van Gaal’s successor back in May.

United won their opening four games in all competitions but have since suffered Premier League defeats at the hands of Manchester City and Watford.

Mourinho watched his side play out a goalless draw against Liverpool at Anfield on Monday night as the Red Devils successfully kept Jurgen Klopp’s men at bay.

It appears that Mourinho has still not settled on his first-choice starting line-up since his appointment at Old Trafford.

And Giggs has delivered an honest assessment of United’s start after eight games of the new campaign.

Speaking on Sky Sports before Monday’s game at Anfield, Giggs said: “He [Mourinho] has taken over a team where you just don’t know what you’re going to get.

“Over the last few seasons since Sir Alex retired it’s been up and down. If you look at Jose Mourinho’s teams, he’s had a nucleus of about seven or eight players who play every game.

“At the moment, Jose still doesn’t know his best team and he’s chopping and changing, which is unlike him.”
