Santi Cazorla comments on Arsenal’s title hopes this season

Santi Cazorla is expecting big things from Arsenal this season...

Santi Cazorla is backing Arsenal to achieve “big things” this season following their strong start to the new campaign.

The north London side are currently in third place in the Premier League table and just two points behind leaders Manchester City after seven games of the new campaign.

Arsenal have earned plenty of praise for their performances in recent weeks after they made it five wins in a row in the Premier League with a 1-0 victory at Burnley last weekend.

Much has been made of Arsenal’s failure to win the Premier League title since their famous unbeaten triumph in the 2003-04 season.

However, playmaker Cazorla feels that Arsenal are now well-placed to challenge for major trophies this season under Arsene Wenger’s expert guidance.

Speaking in an interview with Spanish outlet Cope, Cazorla said: “Arsene is an icon at the club. He has spent 20 years here and every bit of praise to him would not be enough.

“There was a time when fans demanded the club to fight for the Premier League title again or do something big in the Champions League.

“We were aware of that and I hope the club can take a step forward and Arsenal can be fighting for big things this season.”
