Dietmar Hamann states prediction for Southampton v Chelsea
The former Liverpool midfielder is backing Eden Hazard to score for Chelsea against Southampton
Dietmar Hamann is backing Eden Hazard to get on the score sheet when Chelsea make the trip to Southampton on Saturday afternoon.
The Belgium international has rediscovered his best form under Antonio Conte after the forward struggled badly under Jose Mourinho and Guus Hiddink last term.
Hazard has already scored four goals in nine Premier League appearances this season, which is already more than his 2015-16 tally.
The 25-year-old’s most-recent goal came in a 4-0 win against title rivals Manchester United as he netted the west London side’s third of the Premier League clash.
Former Liverpool midfielder Hamann is backing the 2015 PFA player of the year to continue his goal-scoring run when Chelsea take on Southampton at St Mary’s on Saturday afternoon.
“That was such a huge win for Chelsea against United last week. They’ve had a run of decent results now and their confidence will be flying. Eden Hazard looks back to his best and it makes it impossible not to choose him. He bagged one against United and he can do the same against Saints,” Hamann wrote in his Paddy Power column.
Hazard scored 14 times in 38 Premier League games during Chelsea’s title-winning season in 2014-15.
The Blues are in fourth place in the Premier League table and a point behind leaders Manchester City.
Chelsea lost 2-0 to West Ham United in the League Cup fourth round on Wednesday night.
