Stan Collymore: My problem with Tottenham in the title race

The former Liverpool striker is worried that Tottenham Hotspur don't have the strength in depth to win the Premier League title

Stan Collymore has cast doubt over Tottenham Hotspur’s Premier League title bid following Saturday’s goalless draw with Bournemouth.

The north London side have failed to win their last three games in all competitions following stalemates with West Brom, Bayer Leverkusen and Bournemouth.

Tottenham are in fifth place in the Premier League table but a mere point behind leaders Manchester City after maintaining their unbeaten start to the 2016-17 season.

Harry Kane scored two goals in five Premier League games before the England international suffered an ankle injury in a 1-0 victory over Sunderland in September.

Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino has utilised South Korea international Son Heung-min and summer signing Vincent Janssen.

However, former Liverpool and Nottingham Forest striker Collymore isn’t sure whether Tottenham have the necessary depth in the attacking department to win the Premier League title.

“I think Tottenham believe they can win it. The issue for me for has been a central striker,” Collymore told BBC Radio Five Live.

“If you take HK out of it, they’ve got a rookie in VJ whose only scored one goal in the League Cup. HMS is great coming in for three or four games but not seven or eight.

Tottenham will host defending Premier League champions Leicester City at White Hart Lane in their next top-flight game on Saturday afternoon.
