Thibaut Courtois reveals radical changes by new Chelsea boss Antonio Conte
The Italian manager has already made some big adjustments at Chelsea's training ground
Thibaut Courtois has revealed that Antonio Conte has made sweeping changes to Chelsea’s training and preparation methods, including a complete overhaul of the food and drink available to players at the training ground.
The Italian manager is currently getting to grips with life in charge at Stamford Bridge following his appointment as Jose Mourinho’s permanent successor earlier in the year.
Chelsea came in for heavy criticism last season as they struggled to produce consistent performances in the Premier League and ended up in 10th place in the table, with their title defence in tatters.
Mourinho was sacked by the Blues back in December and Conte was chosen as the man to take over on a permanent basis this summer.
Now, Chelsea goalkeeper Courtois has revealed the radical changes Conte has made to his team’s preparations for games, including adjustment to the menu at Cobham.
Courtois is quoted as saying by The Daily Express: “We worked on that [tactics] a lot and maybe that is sometimes boring but it’s important to know how to do these things.
“In terms of food, drinks and everything, he put a new regime in place.
“In training, he wanted to put his mark on the group immediately, with videos to see how we would have to train and work, what we do well and tactically what to do.”
