Thierry Henry reacts to Tottenham’s 2-0 victory over Man City
The Arsenal legend heaps praise on Tottenham Hotspur for a brilliant performance against the Premier League leaders
Thierry Henry hailed Tottenham Hotspur’s wonderful performance after Sunday’s 2-0 victory over Manchester City at White Hart Lane.
The home side made the breakthrough when City defender Aleksandar Kolarov miscued a cross past summer signing Claudio Bravo and into his own net.
Tottenham doubled their lead when Son Heung-min teed up Dele Alli and the England midfielder guided his finish past Bravo in the 37th minute.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side had the chance to extend their lead in the second half but Erik Lamela missed his spot-kick after Alli was brought down in the area.
Former Arsenal striker Henry praised Tottenham for being the first Premier League side to show the courage to press Pep Guardiola’s City side so far this season.
“It was exactly what I wanted to see from the start,” Henry told Sky Sports after Tottenham’s 2-0 win.
“If you ask Man City the right question then they’re going to be in trouble. They are vulnerable. They were the first team to do that in the Premier League this season. Man City didn’t have any answers.
“You have to give Tottenham a lot of credit because they were brilliant.”
Tottenham are in second place and a point behind Premier League leaders City after their 2-0 win at White Hart Lane.
Spurs make the trip to Bournemouth in their next Premier League game on Saturday 15 October.
City, meanwhile, will host Southampton at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday 16 October after the international break.
