Toby Alderweireld admits he misses this former Tottenham player
Toby Alderweireld says Nacer Chadli was unlucky during his spell at Tottenham Hotspur
Toby Alderweireld has admitted that Tottenham are missing Nacer Chadli since his summer exit from White Hart Lane.
Chadli was deemed to be surplus to requirements by Mauricio Pochettino at White Hart Lane in the summer transfer window and ended up joining West Bromwich Albion.
The former Spurs man could come up against his old team-mates when Tottenham travel to The Hawthorns in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
And Spurs defender Alderweireld has revealed that Chadli was a popular figure in the Tottenham dressing room before his summer departure.
Alderweireld is quoted as saying by The Daily Star: “I think Nacer was a bit unlucky at Tottenham. He has a lot of quality as a player and works very hard as well, a true professional.
“It is difficult when there are so many good players in a squad as there are at Tottenham, every player’s situation is different. I think he wanted to play more.
“It was his decision and we miss him at Spurs. We who played with him at Spurs and still for the national team know that very well.”
Tottenham have made a strong start to the Premier League season and currently sit in second place, just one point behind leaders Manchester City after seven games of the new campaign.
The Lilywhites became the first team to beat Manchester City when they were 2-0 winners over Pep Guardiola’s side before the international break.
