Tottenham star reveals that his best friend in football is an Arsenal player

Danny Rose discusses his friendship with Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck

Danny Rose has revealed that his “best friend” in football is Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck.

Welbeck has struggled for form and fitness since arriving at the north London club in the summer transfer window back in 2014.

The striker is currently sidelined with a serious knee injury after also missing a large portion of the last campaign due to a similar problem.

Rose and Welbeck will be hoping to go head-to-head when Arsene Wenger’s men take on Mauricio Pochettino’s side later this season as both north London clubs look to challenge for the Premier League title.

Wenger has been touted as a possible candidate for the vacant England job – and Rose says he would have no problem with the Gunners boss taking over the national side, pointing to his friendship with Welbeck.

Speaking in an interview with The London Evening Standard, Rose said: “No, I wouldn’t find it strange [Wenger managing England].

“I’m a football fan more than anything. There are Arsenal players in the England camp, it doesn’t mean that I don’t speak to them.

“My best friend in football is Danny Welbeck and he plays for Arsenal so just because Arsene Wenger has been manager of Arsenal, it wouldn’t bother me in the slightest. It’s about having the best man for the job.”
