Aaron Ramsey makes claim about where Arsenal and Tottenham will finish this season

Aaron Ramsey warns Arsenal that they must finish above Tottenham in the table again this season

Aaron Ramsey has stressed the importance of Arsenal finishing above Tottenham in the Premier League this season.

The Gunners looked set to finish behind their bitter local rivals last term after Mauricio Pochettino’s men challenged Leicester City for the Premier League title for much of the campaign.

However, an end-of-season slump from Spurs allowed Arsenal to capitalise and the Gunners ended up pipping the Lilywhites to second place on the final day of the 2015-16 campaign.

Arsenal are currently in second place in the Premier League table and level on points with leaders Manchester City after 10 games of the new season.

Tottenham, meanwhile, are three points behind as they prepare for their trip to The Emirates on Sunday afternoon in the Premier League.

And Arsenal midfielder Ramsey has talked up the importance of the Gunners finishing above their bitter local rivals once again this term.

Speaking to Arsenal’s website, Ramsey said: “Of course [finishing above them matters].

“It has been many years since that happened and we didn’t want it to happen last season. It was important for us to finish above them and hopefully we can keep that the same way this season.”
