Alan Shearer tears into Mesut Ozil after Arsenal’s draw at Man United

Alan Shearer was not impressed by Mesut Ozil's display for Arsenal against Manchester United

Alan Shearer did not hold back in his assessment of Mesut Ozil’s performance for Arsenal at Manchester United on Saturday.

The Gunners were second best for much of the game as they were outplayed by Jose Mourinho’s men for long spells at Old Trafford.

Juan Mata gave the home side the lead when he drilled home a low shot in the 68th minute at Old Trafford.

But it was Arsenal who had the final say in the game when Olivier Giroud came off the bench to head home an equaliser right at the death and earn a point for Arsene Wenger’s men.

However, it was Ozil’s display that left Shearer most disappointed when he was asked to give his take on the game.

Speaking on BBC Sport’s Match of the Day, Shearer said: “I didn’t think they played well at all, they were very poor for the vast majority of the game,” he said.

“They looked very leggy, very tired, very sloppy.

“Even this guy, Ozil, who has been brilliant for all the season looked really tired, wasn’t up for it today and it was mistake after mistake.”

Arsenal finished second in the Premier League table last season and without a trophy.
