Alan Smith: This is the huge difference between Man United and Chelsea this season
Alan Smith says Chelsea's players are performing at a much higher level than their Manchester United counterparts
Alan Smith believes that Chelsea’s players are performing so well for their new manager that Antonio Conte is not having to think about which team to pick – and that the opposite is the case at Manchester United this season.
The Blues continued their fine form in the Premier League on Saturday night when they came from a goal down to beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 thanks to strikes from Pedro and Victor Moses.
The victory was Chelsea’s seventh on the spin in the Premier League and kept them one point clear of Liverpool at the top of the table.
Chelsea’s brilliant form is in stark contrast to Manchester United’s stuttering start to the campaign under new boss Jose Mourinho.
The Red Devils were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw by West Ham United at Old Trafford on Sunday to leave Mourinho’s men having won just one of their last games in the top flight.
United are already 11 points behind leaders Chelsea after 13 games of the new campaign, and Smith has pointed out the differences between the Blues and the Red Devils this term.
Speaking to Sky Sports News HQ on Monday morning, Smith said: “It’s the polar opposite of what’s happened at United.
“You talk about players demanding to be included… all those 11 [Chelsea] lads at the moment – he [Conte] is not having to spend too long on Friday to decide on his team.
“Every player is getting a good eight out of 10 at the moment.”
