Ander Herrera admits Man United must improve in this one key area

Ander Herrera says Manchester United must improve their form in front of goal this season

Ander Herrera admits that Manchester United need to improve their finishing under Jose Mourinho this season.

It has been something of a stuttering start to life at Old Trafford for the Portuguese coach following his appointment as the club’s new manager back in May.

The Red Devils have struggled to produce consistent performances for their new boss and have failed to string together a series of wins in all competitions.

However, there have been signs of improvement in recent weeks, highlighted by their 4-0 win over Feyenoord in the Europa League last Thursday.

And Herrera feels that United have been doing the most difficult thing – creating chances – and has now challenged the Red Devils to step up their form in front of goal.

Speaking in an interview with United Review, Herrera said: “In football I think the most difficult thing is to create chances.

“To be in the third part of the pitch and getting good shots away and we are doing that. So the most difficult thing is what we are doing, but now we have to score the chances, that’s what football is about. So of course we have to finish better.”

Manchester United will once again host West Ham United at Old Trafford next week in the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup.
