Antonio Conte issues warning to title rivals after Chelsea’s 2-1 win over Tottenham
The Chelsea manager delivers his verdict on the Blues squad's new-found resilience in the Premier League title race
Antonio Conte insists his all-conquering Chelsea side is different to the Blues outfit that lost to Arsenal and Liverpool in September.
The west London side managed to maintain their winning record on Saturday evening as Chelsea managed to notch up a seventh successive Premier League victory.
The leaders edged to a 2-1 victory over London rivals Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge after Pedro Rodriguez cancelled out Christian Eriksen’s opener before Victor Moses netted a 51st-minute winner.
Chelsea have eased to victory in their last seven Premier League outings thanks to wins against Hull City, Leicester City, Manchester United, Southampton, Everton, Middlesbrough and Tottenham.
Speaking to the media after Chelsea’s 2-1 win against Spurs in the London derby, Conte warned their title rivals that his Blues players have discovered a new-found resilience.
“We must be pleased because this type of game isn’t easy. We are a different team compared to the team which lost at Arsenal and Liverpool,” Conte is quoted as saying by Chelsea’s website.
“We are another team and I’m pleased about this, I’m pleased for the players. We’re working a lot and they enjoy this type of football. Its normal in this type of game you cannot dominate the whole game. Today we won and I’m pleased because it wasn’t easy.”
Chelsea will make the trip to Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side at the Etihad Stadium in their next Premier League game on Saturday.
The Blues are a point ahead of second-placed Liverpool in the title race.
