Antonio Conte lifts lid on Chelsea’s half-time team talk in 2-1 win over Tottenham
The Chelsea manager praises the response of his Blues players in the second half of their 2-1 win against Tottenham Hotspur
Antonio Conte praised the response of his Chelsea players after their half-time team talk led to a 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.
Christian Eriksen became the first player to score against the Blues in six Premier League games after the Denmark international fired a powerful strike past Thibaut Courtois.
However, Chelsea were level before half-time thanks to Pedro Rodriguez after the former Barcelona forward curled a finish past Tottenham number one Hugo Lloris.
And Nigeria international Victor Moses edged the home side into a slender lead thanks to a close-range finish to seal three points for Conte’s side in the 51st minute.
Speaking at his post-match news conference after Chelsea’s 2-1 win against Tottenham in the London derby, Conte heaped praise on his Blues players following their second-half performance.
“I always speak with my players at half-time because it’s right to see the good and bad things we are doing,” Conte said.
“Sometimes it can happen that the opponent starts better than you but we are talking about Spurs, not a team at the bottom of the table.
“Last season they fought to win the title and they’ve improved their squad a lot.”
Chelsea hoisted themselves above Liverpool and into top spot in the Premier League table after their 2-1 win against Spurs.
Conte’s side will make the long trip to title rivals Manchester City in their next Premier League fixture at The Etihad.
