Antonio Conte’s response when asked if Chelsea can win Premier League title

The Chelsea manager delivers verdict on the west London side's Premier League title bid

Antonio Conte has urged his Chelsea players to ignore talk of winning the Premier League title and to continue to work hard.

The Blues hoisted themselves above Liverpool and back into top spot in the table after a 2-1 win against Tottenham Hotspur in the London derby at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening.

Christian Eriksen broke the deadlock with a superb long-range strike for the visitors but the Blues were level on the stroke of half-time after Pedro Rodriguez curled a finish past Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.

Nigeria international Victor Moses edged Chelsea into a second-half lead thanks to a close-range finish despite the best efforts of Lloris and Jan Vertonghen on the line to clear the ball.

Chelsea have won their last seven Premier League games and have scored 19 times during their winning run.

Asked if the Blues could win the Premier League title following their London derby triumph, Conte told Sky Sports: “Today in this period it is not right to talk about winning the league.

“We have to improve and we have a long way ahead. We have to wait to speak – not to write things – and it is important to stay humble.

“We won a game against a really strong team and on Saturday [against Manchester City] we have another really strong team.”
