Antonio Valencia: What Jose Mourinho has done for me at Man United
Antonio Valencia has his say on Jose Mourinho's impact at Manchester United this season
Antonio Valencia has revealed that Jose Mourinho has given him a new-found confidence at Manchester United this season.
The Ecuador international has been in impressive form for the Red Devils in recent weeks and was named man of the match in United’s 1-1 draw with Arsenal at Old Trafford in the Premier League last weekend.
The winger appears to have been given a new lease of life under Mourinho and has been one of the Red Devils’ most consistent performers this term.
Mourinho is still getting to grips with life at Old Trafford following his appointment as the club’s new manager back in May.
However, Valencia has been thrilled by the impact Mourinho has had on his own game since his appointment as Louis van Gaal’s successor.
Speaking in an interview with United’s website, Valencia said: “I’m thankful for the manager’s kind words and I hope to keep working hard to repay the faith he’s put in me in every game I play.
“He has given me a lot of confidence – he’s given me the chance to play. I like being at Manchester United and I want to do all I can for the team.”
Manchester United will host West Ham United once again at Old Trafford on Wednesday night in the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup.
