Arsenal legend comments on Tottenham’s Champions League disaster
Lee Dixon delivers his honest verdict about Tottenham's European performances
Lee Dixon has insisted that he has taken no pleasure from Tottenham’s disastrous Champions League group-stage campaign.
The Lilywhites were knocked out of Europe’s elite club competition on Tuesday night after they suffered a 2-1 defeat by Monaco.
Tottenham will now be aiming to make it into the Europa League via a third-placed finish in their group as they aim to stay in Europe this season.
Spurs booked their place in this season’s competition thanks to their third-placed finish in the Premier League last term.
However, Arsenal legend Dixon has not been at all impressed by Spurs’ showing in the Champions League this season.
Speaking to ITV Sport on Wednesday night, Dixon said: “I take no pleasure from saying how poor Tottenham have been in this Champions League.
‘It takes so much effort to get there. They nearly won the league and end up finishing third.
“They put performances up that they have done. It has been really poor.”
Tottenham must now dust themselves down as they prepare for their crunch Premier League clash against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday night.
The Lilywhites were 3-2 winners over West Ham United in the Premier League at White Hart Lane last time out.
