Arsenal legend lavishes praise on Chelsea striker
Ian Wright reveals that he is a huge fan of Chelsea striker Diego Costa
Ian Wright has revealed that he is a huge fan of Chelsea striker Diego Costa.
The Spain international has earned a reputation as one of the Premier League’s top forwards since his arrival at the club from Atletico Madrid.
Costa has been in fine form so far this season and proved the difference on Sunday when he scored the only goal of the game to hand Chelsea a 1-0 win over Middlesbrough.
The striker has now scored 10 goals and made three assists in 12 Premier League games for Chelsea so far this season.
And Arsenal legend Wright has been hugely impressed by Costa’s recent form for the west London side.
Writing in his column for The Sun, Wright said: “Nothing is ever a lost cause where this man is concerned — he’s as sharp as a tack.
“You saw that with his winning goal at Middlesbrough on Sunday.
“Costa had no right to get to a ball he was third favourite to reach first, but while the defenders dithered, he reacted like lightning and it was game over.
“That made it ten goals for him this season — seven more than at the same stage a year ago — and six straight wins for Chelsea.
“But don’t tell me that’s all down to bringing a new-found sense of control to his game.
“Costa is always a man who will play on the edge, always a man who will get under your skin. And I wouldn’t want to see him any other way.”
Chelsea are currently top of the Premier League table as they prepare for their crunch clash with bitter rivals Tottenham at Stamford Bridge on Saturday night.
The Blues are aiming to bounce back from their disastrous 10th-placed finish in the Premier League last season.
