Arsenal legend sends warning to Man United boss Jose Mourinho
Alan Smith has his say on Jose Mourinho's recent conduct at Manchester United
Alan Smith has warned Jose Mourinho that he must improve his behaviour on the touchline to send the right message to his Manchester United players.
The Portuguese coach was sent to the stands for losing his cool and kicking a water bottle in frustration during the first half of United’s 1-1 draw with West Ham United in the Premier League on Sunday.
Mourinho has found himself under increasing pressure at Old Trafford following his side’s stuttering form under their new boss.
The former Chelsea manager has been visibly frustrated on the touchline as his team struggle to produce consistent performances.
Indeed, Sunday’s draw with West Ham left United trailing Premier League leaders Chelsea by a staggering 11 points after 13 games of the new campaign.
However, Arsenal legend Smith feels that Mourinho needs to get his act together on the touchline to help get the best out of his players.
Speaking to Sky Sports News HQ, Smith said: “These are fairly difficult times for United and you want the players to keep their composure.
“When you see your manager and your leader losing it, it doesn’t send the right message.
“It’s just so unnecessary, and now he’s going to have to watch from the stands for the next few games.”
