Arsenal legend: Why I’m still not convinced by Man United signings Ibrahimovic, Pogba

Niall Quinn delivers his honest verdict on Manchester United signings Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba

Niall Quinn says the jury is still out on Manchester United signings Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba.

The Red Devils duo have made a subdued start to the 2016-17 season under Jose Mourinho after a busy summer of transfer activity at Old Trafford.

Ibrahimovic completed a free transfer to Manchester United from Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain after the centre-forward scored 38 times in 32 top-flight appearances.

Pogba became the world’s most-expensive player when Manchester United signed the France international in an £89m deal from Serie A holders Juventus in August.

The midfielder broke the deadlock at the Liberty Stadium on Sunday afternoon before Ibrahimovic netted two first-half goals to secure a 3-1 win against Swansea City.

Former Arsenal and Manchester City striker Quinn believes Ibrahimovic and Pogba are showing signs of improvement after a disappointing start.

“The idea to write about the form of the big summer transfers came before Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic spent Sunday afternoon pawing the dead mouse that is Swansea,” Quinn wrote in his Sky Sports column.

“But even taking into account that the win was United’s best performance outside of England this year, the jury must still be out on Pogba and Zlatan.”

Manchester United are in sixth place in the Premier League table and eight points adrift of leaders Liverpool after 11 top-flight games.
