Paul Merson states prediction for Arsenal v Bournemouth
The Arsenal legend is backing the Gunners to ease to victory over Bournemouth on Sunday afternoon
Paul Merson has backed Arsenal to beat Bournemouth despite warning the Gunners over dropping points in the Premier League clash at The Emirates.
Arsene Wenger’s side have drawn their last two Premier League games to lose ground on their title rivals Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City.
Arsenal played out a 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur in the north London derby at the start of November before Olivier Giroud’s late equaliser rescued a 1-1 stalemate with Manchester United at Old Trafford.
The Gunners are unbeaten since the opening day of the 2016-17 Premier League campaign when Arsenal lost 4-3 to Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium.
However, former Arsenal midfielder Merson is backing the Gunners to return to winning ways against Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth side in north London on Sunday afternoon.
“I’ve got to go for Arsenal. Jack Wilshere can’t play for Bournemouth, which will be a miss,” Merson told Sky Sports.
“I think Arsenal, with them being at home, need to win. You just can’t afford to draw games in this league.
“You need to win games and for me it’s a must-win game for Arsenal.”
Arsenal are in fourth place and four points behind leaders Chelsea after 12 Premier League games.
The Gunners finished in second place in the Premier League table last season but 10 points adrift of champions Leicester City.
