Borussia Dortmund chief backs Jurgen Klopp to guide Liverpool to title glory
The Borussia Dortmund chief executive issues his backing for Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool in title race
Jurgen Klopp has a chance of guiding Liverpool to Premier League title glory, according to Borussia Dortmund chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke.
Liverpool are in third place in the Premier League table but level on points with current leaders Manchester City after 10 top-flight games in the 2016-17 campaign.
The Merseyside outfit were 4-2 winners against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday evening thanks to goals from Emre Can, Dejan Lovren, Joel Matip and Roberto Firmino.
The 18-time English champions haven’t lost a Premier League game since a 2-0 loss to promoted side Burnley at Turf Moor in their second game of the campaign.
Speaking ahead of Liverpool’s home clash against Watford in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon, Klopp’s former boss Watzke explained why he believes the 49-year-old’s Reds side have an edge in the title race.
“Even if Jurgen does not say it, he has a chance!” Watzke told Bild, as quoted by The Liverpool Echo.
“He is doing a great job there.
“One must not underestimate that Manchester City and Arsenal are very strong also. It is incredibly tight in England.
“[But] Jurgen Klopp has an advantage – He has no English weeks.”
Liverpool have already beaten their title rivals Arsenal and Chelsea on the road in the Premier League this season.
