Carl Jenkinson aims dig at Tottenham after Arsenal draw
Carl Jenkinson reflects on Arsenal's 2-2 draw with PSG in the Champions League on Wednesday
Carl Jenkinson has pointed out Tottenham’s failure to reach the last 16 of the Champions League in the wake of Arsenal’s 2-2 draw with PSG.
Arsenal were held to a draw at The Emirates on Wednesday night to leave them facing an uphill struggled to win their group, despite having qualified for the next round.
Tottenham, on the other hand, were knocked out of the Champions League on Tuesday night after they went down 2-1 to Monaco.
And Arsenal defender Jenkinson feels that the Gunners deserve praise for reaching the last 16 of Europe’s elite club competition, even if it looks like Arsene Wenger’s men will not top their group.
Jenkinson is quoted as saying by The Daily Express: “Getting to the last 16 is not the easiest thing in the world to do.
“We have held our own in this group and are joint top at the end of the day. The only thing holding us back is the head to head rule, which is frustrating when, your goal difference counts for nothing. The head to head rule is very frustrating, I’m not a fan of that.
“It is not easy to get this far. Tottenham have obviously seen that – and we have done well to get to this point.”
Arsenal return to Premier League action on Sunday afternoon with a home clash against Bournemouth at The Emirates.
The north London side are currently in fourth place in the table after two successive 1-1 draws in the top flight.
