Chelsea legend shares Roman Abramovich’s reaction to 5-0 Everton thrashing
Roman Abrahmovich was a happy man after Chelsea's thumping 5-0 win over Everton, according to Pat Nevin
Pat Nevin has revealed that Roman Abramovich looked happier than ever in the immediate aftermath of Chelsea’s 5-0 thrashing of Everton on Saturday night.
The Blues ran riot against the Toffees at Stamford Bridge as Eden Hazard scored twice to fire the west London club to victory in front of their home fans.
It capped a positive run of results for Antonio Conte’s men, who have also beaten Southampton and Manchester United in recent weeks.
The result left Chelsea second in the Premier League table and a point behind leaders Liverpool heading into the the international break.
And Nevin has described how he saw Chelsea owner Abramovich react to the result after the final whistle.
Writing in his column for Chelsea’s website, Nevin said: “After the game I watched Roman Abramovich walk across the field with the biggest grin you are ever likely to see from him.
“We didn’t win anything on Saturday but the man who has put so much into the club seemed to exude the idea, ‘This is why I have got involved, not only to be successful but to be successful while being creative, entertaining and quite frankly rather beautiful on the eye to watch.’”
Chelsea ended up in 10th place and with their Premier League title defence in tatters after a season to forget for the Blues last term.
