Michael Owen states his prediction for Chelsea v Tottenham
Michael Owen looks ahead to Chelsea's clash with Tottenham in the Premier League this weekend
Michael Owen has warned Chelsea and Tottenham fans to expect a feisty encounter during Saturday’s Premier League clash at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues are preparing to host the Lilywhites at their home ground as Antonio Conte’s men look to extend their impressive form in the Premier League.
Chelsea have had a free week to prepare for the game, while Spurs head into the match fresh from the disappointment of their Champions League defeat by Monaco on Tuesday night.
The game was a particularly tempestuous affair last season, with Spurs shown a staggering nine yellow cards in the 2-2 draw.
And former Liverpool striker Owen is expecting a similarly heated affair this time round.
Writing in his column for BetVictor, Owen said: “I thought some of the behaviour in the corresponding game last season was little short of disgraceful and there is sure to still be some bad blood between the sides.
“It is again a massive game for both clubs with Spurs clinging onto their unbeaten Premier League record and Chelsea on a roll at present.
“I hope I am wrong but I expect a tight, tetchy affair and it wouldn’t surprise me if referee Michael Oliver is in for a busy night.”
Chelsea are currently flying high at the top of the Premier League table and one point clear of second-placed Liverpool after 12 games of the new season.
Spurs were 3-2 winners over West Ham United last time out.
