Eden Hazard sends message to Chelsea fans about his ambitions
Eden Hazard is focused on becoming the best player he can be and realising his potential
Eden Hazard has insisted that he is not thinking about emulating the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
The Chelsea playmaker earned a reputation as one of the Premier League’s most exciting attacking talents following his transfer to Stamford Bridge from Lille back in 2012.
The 25-year-old was named as the PFA player of the year in the 2014-15 season after a sparkling campaign for the west London club culminated in a Premier League and League Cup double.
However, the Belgium international endured a season to forget last term as Chelsea ended up 10th in the Premier League table and without a trophy following the sacking of Jose Mourinho.
It has been suggested that Hazard has the talent to reach similar levels to the likes of Ronaldo and Messi.
But the midfielder insists that he is only focused on becoming the best player he can be and is ignoring the comparisons.
Speaking in an interview with Football Focus, as quoted by The Daily Express, Hazard said: “I’m still young, I’m only 25.
“I want to be the best but it’s not in my head. I just want to enjoy (myself).
“If I can be then I will be the best. If not, it’s not a problem.
“I just want to play, I don’t want to be like Messi or Ronaldo.
“I just want to be me and to be the best.”
