Ex-Tottenham boss met with Eden Hazard for transfer talks in Paris
Harry Redknapp reveals how he tried to sign Eden Hazard for Tottenham before his move to Chelsea
Harry Redknapp has revealed that he tried to sign Eden Hazard when he was Tottenham boss.
The Chelsea playmaker has earned a reputation as one of the Premier League’s top attackers since his transfer to Spurs from Lille back in 2012.
Hazard was linked with a number of different clubs before he opted to sign for Chelsea, who had just won their first Champions League title.
And former Tottenham manager Redknapp has revealed how he attempted to bring the Belgian international to White Hart Lane and even held talks with the midfielder in Paris.
Redknapp said in an interview with Betsafe, as quoted by Metro: “I tried to sign Hazard when I was at Tottenham.
“I met him in Paris and it looked like he might join Tottenham but he went to Chelsea.”
Hazard will be expecting to feature when Tottenham take on Chelsea in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge on Saturday night.
The 25-year-old was named as the Premier League player of the month for October after a string of impressive performances for Antonio Conte’s side to help them move to the top of the Premier League table.
