Garth Crooks issues warning to Chelsea about dangerous Arsenal sign
The Tottenham legend believes Arsenal's 3-1 win against Bournemouth is a statement in title race
Garth Crooks believes it is an ominous sign for Chelsea that Arsenal were able to pick up three Premier League points in a Champions League week.
The Blues extended their lead to six points over Arsene Wenger’s side on Saturday evening thanks to a 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the London derby at Stamford Bridge.
However, Arsenal cut the west London side’s lead to three points after their 3-1 win against Bournemouth at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday evening.
Alexis Sanchez scored either side of half-time to take his tally to eight Premier League goals this season, while Theo Walcott found the net against the Cherries in the second half.
Former Tottenham forward Crooks believes it was an encouraging sign that Arsenal were able to return to winning ways on Sunday despite their Champions League exploits in mid-week.
“What Arsenal have done is collect three very valuable points in a week where Champions League often takes priority. That is a very dangerous sign for Manchester City and Chelsea,” Crooks told BBC Sport.
Arsenal will host Southampton in the League Cup quarter-final at The Emirates on Wednesday night.
The Gunners will make the short trip to West Ham in the Premier League next weekend.
