Gary Neville issues blunt warning to Man United over Jose Mourinho
Gary Neville has his say on Manchester United's start to life under Jose Mourinho this season
Gary Neville has warned Manchester United that they can’t just sack Jose Mourinho if the club doesn’t finish fourth this season.
It has been something of a stuttering start to life at Old Trafford for Mourinho since his appointment as Louis van Gaal’s successor back in May.
The Red Devils have struggled to produce consistent form under their new boss and have already lost three times in the Premier League, including a humiliating 4-0 thrashing by Chelsea last month.
Mourinho was brought in after the club opted to sack Van Gaal following their fifth-placed finish and FA Cup triumph last season.
However, Neville feels that the Red Devils now owe it to Mourinho to stick with the Portuguese coach and give him time to prove himself at Old Trafford.
Neville is quoted as saying by The Manchester Evening News: “It’s going to take some time for United to get through this thing of sacking managers if they don’t come in fourth.
“They have to really live with Mourinho now and hopefully it will work and he can get it right because we need some stability there.”
