Gary Neville reacts to Antonio Valencia’s display in Man United’s draw with Arsenal
Gary Neville singles out Antonio Valencia for special praise after Manchester United's 1-1 draw with Arsenal
Gary Neville picked Antonio Valencia as he man of the match after Manchester United’s 1-1 draw with Arsenal in the Premier League on Saturday.
The Red Devils struggled to break the Gunners down in the first half at Old Trafford as the two sides went in level at the break.
Juan Mata gave the home side the lead when he drilled home a low shot in the 68th minute to put the Red Devils 1-0 up.
Arsenal failed to really click into gear at Old Trafford but were able to salvage a point when substitute Olivier Giroud headed home late on.
However, Neville thought that Valencia – who returned from injury to start the game – was United’s best player against the Gunners.
Speaking during Sky Sports‘ live coverage of the game, Neville said: “The man of the match was Antonio Valencia.
“I’m not going to let the Arsenal goal change my mind on that. He’s been the best Manchester United player.”
The result left Manchester United six points behind Arsenal in the Premier League table.
The Gunners are unbeaten in all competitions since their opening-weekend defeat by Liverpool at The Emirates.
