Gary Neville reacts to Man United’s 1-1 draw with Arsenal
Gary Neville has his say on Manchester United's 1-1 draw with Arsenal in the Premier League on Saturday
Gary Neville lavished praise on Juan Mata after the Spaniard scored Manchester United’s goal in the 1-1 draw with Arsenal in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
United headed into Saturday’s crunch clash at Old Trafford trailing Arsenal by six points after a stuttering start to the campaign.
After a goalless first half in which neither team really dominated, the home side took the lead in the 68th minute when Mata drilled a low shot past Petr Cech.
However, Arsenal drew level late on when Olivier Giroud headed home after combining with fellow substitute Ales Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Speaking during Sky Sports‘ live coverage of the game, Neville said: “It was an absolutely brilliant, controlled finish [from Mata].
“You wouldn’t have anybody else arriving for Manchester United in that position.
“He’s got great composure and technique and made it look so simple, even though it wasn’t.”
The result left United in sixth place and seven points behind leaders Liverpool, who were set to play Southampton later on Saturday.
Arsenal remain unbeaten in all competitions since August, when the Gunners lost to Liverpool on the opening weekend of the campaign.
