Gary Neville sends message to Man United fans ahead of Arsenal clash
Gary Neville tells Manchester United fans to be patient with Jose Mourinho in his first season in charge
Gary Neville has warned Manchester United fans that it is taking Jose Mourinho longer than expected to discover his best team at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils have struggled to find consistent form under their new manager and currently trail Premier League leaders Liverpool by eight points after 11 games of the season.
Mourinho is currently preparing his team for the visit of Arsenal to Old Trafford after the international break on Saturday afternoon.
United have already lost three times in the Premier League so far this season and it remains to be seen whether Mourinho can guide the club to a top-four finish.
And former defender Neville admits that it is taking longer than expected for Mourinho to have an impact at the club.
Speaking in an interview with The Manchester Evening News, Neville said: “I thought United would settle down quicker than they have with the new signings, they haven’t – it looks like it’s still going to be a bit painful.
“Mourinho has always been about picking his best 11 and he will deliver the win. He has had to change it constantly and he doesn’t know his best team yet.”
Manchester United finished fifth and won the FA Cup under Louis van Gaal last season.
Arsenal are currently six points ahead of United heading into next weekend’s showdown at Old Trafford.
