Gary Neville talks up this promising Arsenal partnership
Gary Neville is expecting Shkodran Mustafi to be a big hit at Arsenal
Gary Neville believes that playing alongside Laurent Koscielny at Arsenal will allow Shkodran Mustafi to realise his full potential.
The Germany defender has been a regular fixture in the Arsenal first team since his transfer to the club from Valencia late in the summer transfer window.
Mustafi looks to be building the foundations of a solid partnership with Koscielny in the heart of Arsenal’s defence.
And former Manchester United defender Neville, who worked with the German during his doomed spell in charge at Valencia last season, believes that Mustafi will continue to improve by playing alongside Koscielny.
Speaking in an interview with Metro, Neville said: “I think that ultimately it will help him playing along Koscielny who has got experience there playing at Arsenal.
“I think he’s got all the makings of it.
“Defenders will mature with age and I think he will get better and better.”
Arsenal are currently preparing for a crunch clash against Manchester United at Old Trafford after the international break.
The Gunners – who finished second and without a trophy last term – are fourth in the table and two points behind leaders Liverpool after 11 games of the new season.
