Gianfranco Zola reacts to Chelsea’s 2-1 win over Tottenham

Gianfranco Zola has his say on Chelsea's comeback win over Tottenham on Saturday night

Gianfranco Zola heaped praise on Chelsea for their comeback win over Tottenham – but then warned that there is still plenty of room for improvement from the Blues this term.

Chelsea fell behind early in the first half at Stamford Bridge thanks to Christian Eriksen’s sumptuous opener.

However, the Blues drew level on the stroke of half-time when Pedro curled in a brilliant equaliser for Antonio Conte’s men.

And the west London side took the lead in the 51st minute when Victor Moses’ low shot beat Hugo Lloris.

The win was Chelsea’s seventh in a row and lifted them to the top of the Premier League table, one point clear of Liverpool.

And although former Chelsea star Zola was thrilled with the win, the Italian felt that the west London side could have performed better.

Speaking on BT Sport after the game, Zola said: “It is important to win games like this.

“You cannot [always] play as well as they played against Everton or Leicester.

“You have to be very, very pleased.

“They will have to improve, they can still do better in my opinion, but the win is very important. It is a very good indication.”

Chelsea are looking to win the Premier League title this season after their disastrous 10th-placed finish last season.
