Graeme Souness’ one-word description of Antonio Conte’s start at Chelsea

Graeme Souness gives his thoughts on Chelsea's start to the season under Antonio Conte

Graeme Souness has heaped praise on Antonio Conte for the strong start he has made to life as Chelsea manager.

The Blues have earned plenty of admirers for their impressive performances in recent weeks following Conte’s appointment as their new manager over the summer.

The west London side continued their fine form with a 2-1 comeback win over Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane as Conte’s men secured their seventh straight victory in the Premier League, to leave them one point clear at the top of the table.

Conte’s side have stepped their game up since the Italian opted to switch to a 3-4-3 formation and the west London side have been in solid form in recent weeks.

And former Liverpool star Souness has been very impressed by what he has seen from Chelsea in recent weeks.

Asked for his thoughts on Conte’s start at Chelsea, Souness told Sky Sports News HQ on Monday morning: “Fabulous.”

He continued: “Everyone knew he preferred three at the back. He gave them a chance to show him how good they were as a back four. That didn’t happen.
