Graeme Souness: This is my concern about Liverpool in the title race
The Liverpool legend questions whether Jurgen Klopp's side have a plan B when the Reds aren't on the front foot
Graeme Souness has questioned whether Liverpool are able to make life difficult for their opponents when Jurgen Klopp’s side aren’t on the front foot.
The Reds are in second place in the Premier League table and a point adrift of leaders Chelsea thanks to their 2-0 win against Sunderland at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.
Liverpool have managed to blow away some Premier League teams in the 2016-17 season so far, easing to commanding victories over Hull City, Leicester City and Watford at Anfield.
The Merseyside club have also produced impressive performance in victories at title rivals Arsenal and Chelsea as well as a dominant display in a 1-1 stalemate at Tottenham Hotspur.
However, the 18-time English champions came unstuck in a goalless stalemate with Manchester United when Jose Mourinho’s side managed to disrupt Liverpool’s momentum at Anfield in October.
Chelsea are sitting at the top of the Premier League table thanks to a seven-game winning run.
Former Liverpool captain Souness has questioned whether Liverpool have Chelsea’s ability to make life difficult for Premier League opponents even when they’re not playing well.
“Chelsea have got a bit of ‘ring-craft’ – they can make life difficult for the opposition when they’re not on the front foot,” Souness told Sky Sports News HQ.

“That’s my concern for my old team Liverpool, I’m not seeing that in their team yet. Whether that develops [I don’t know].”
