Graeme Souness: This is my only concern about Chelsea in title race
The former Liverpool captain reveals his worry for Chelsea in this season's Premier League title race
Graeme Sounes says his only worry for Chelsea in the Premier League title race is whether Diego Costa and Eden Hazard can stay injury-free throughout the 2016-17 season.
The Blues have been the Premier League’s form team over the past couple of months after an incredible run of seven successive top-flight victories to hoist the west London side to the top of the table.
Chelsea were 2-1 winners against previously unbeaten Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening after goals from Pedro Rodriguez and Victor Moses cancelled out Christian Eriksen’s opener.
Antonio Conte’s side have scored 19 times and have kept six clean sheets during their winning Premier League run to underline their status as genuine title contenders.
Costa has scored a remarkable 10 goals in 13 top-flight games, while his team-mate Hazard has netted seven times and has made one assist.
However, former Liverpool captain Souness believes Chelsea’s title bid could unravel should Costa or Hazard suffer an injury in the 2016-17 season.
“My only concern for Chelsea would have to be if Diego Costa were to go out [injured] for a period of time – he’s bang at it right now. Or if Eden Hazard was to get injured, how would that impact them? I think it would hurt them badly,” Souness told Sky Sports.
