Harry Redknapp delivers promising verdict on Liverpool’s title prospects

The former Spurs manager believes Liverpool are capable of winning the Premier League title this season

Harry Redknapp insists Liverpool have a great shot at winning the Premier League title this season.

The Reds temporarily moved to the top of the Premier League table on Saturday evening after a 2-0 victory over Sunderland at Anfield.

Divock Origi broke the deadlock in the second half with a close-range finish before James Milner netted a penalty in added time.

However, Liverpool were demoted to second place in the table after Chelsea were 2-1 winners against Tottenham Hotspur to reclaim top spot.

The Reds are unbeaten in their last 11 Premier League games since a 2-0 loss to Burnley at Turf Moor in their second fixture of the 2016-17 term.

Speaking on BT Sport’s Premier League Tonight, show Redknapp explained why he considers Liverpool to be genuine title contenders.

“I think they’ll be bang up there [challenging for the title] this year,” Redknapp said.

“They’ve got every chance. It’s a good Liverpool team and they’ve got a good manager.”

Liverpool have never won the Premier League title despite finishing in second place in 2009 and 2014.
