Harry Redknapp: Man United are still Premier League title contenders

The former Tottenham manager believes Jose Mourinho's Manchester United side can still win the Premier League title

Harry Redknapp has insisted that Manchester United are still Premier League title contenders this season.

The Red Devils are in sixth place in the Premier League table and nine points adrift of leaders Chelsea after another pulsating Premier League weekend.

Manchester United missed the chance to close the gap on fourth-placed Arsenal after a 1-1 draw with Arsene Wenger’s side at Old Trafford in Saturday’s early kick-off.

Juan Mata broke the deadlock in the 69th minute at Old Trafford but Arsenal substitute Olivier Giroud levelled with less than 90 seconds remaining at the Theatre of Dreams.

Former Tottenham manager Redknapp believes Manchester United still have a role to play in the Premier League title race.

“It’s wide open. It’s never been so open,” Redknapp told BT Sport’s Premier League Tonight show.

“There are six teams there – and I am including Manchester United in that on the fringes of the six. Any of them could win it. They’ve all got frailties.”

Mourinho took over the reins from Louis van Gaal at Old Trafford in May after the Red Devils finished in fifth place in the 2015-16 season.
