Hugo Lloris: Why Harry Kane’s return is so important for Tottenham
The Tottenham Hotspur captain talks up England striker Harry Kane's value to Mauricio Pochettino's side
Hugo Lloris has explained why Harry Kane’s return from injury is so important for Tottenham Hotspur.
The England international suffered a serious ankle injury after he scored the winner in a 1-0 victory over Sunderland at White Hart Lane in September.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side drew four successive Premier League games after their 2-0 win against title rivals Manchester City at the start of October.
The north London side failed to beat West Bromwich Albion, Bournemouth, Leicester City and Arsenal as Pochettino’s side lost ground on their title rivals.
Kane returned for the derby and scored Tottenham’s second-half equaliser from the penalty spot before he netted twice in Spurs’ 3-2 win against West Ham United at White Hart Lane on Saturday evening.
And France goalkeeper Lloris emphasised Kane’s importance to the Tottenham side ahead of their trip to Premier League leaders Chelsea on Saturday evening.
“One thing is very important – the return of Kane,” Lloris is quoted as saying by talkSPORT.
“He is bringing a lot of positive energy as we saw against Arsenal and West Ham. He is a very important player for us. Tomorrow he is going to be decisive hopefully.
“It’s simple. He is one of the leaders and tomorrow is an important moment for Tottenham this season so we need all our top players at the top level.
“It’s our responsibility tomorrow to play at that level.”
Tottenham are four points behind Premier League leaders Chelsea after their 3-2 win against the Hammers in the London derby last weekend.
