Ian Rush says Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp doesn’t need to sign a striker in the January transfer window.

The Reds are the Premier League’s top goal-scorers after netting 30 times in 12 games in the 2016-17 top-flight campaign so far.

Senegal international Sadio Mane is Liverpool’s leading goal-scorer after a return of six goals in 11 appearances following his £34m move to Anfield from Southampton in the summer.

Brazilian duo Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino have both scored five times in the Premier League campaign so far, while James Milner has netted four goals from the penalty spot.

However, England striker Daniel Sturridge has only made four Premier League starts so far this term, and the 27-year-old is still waiting for his first top-flight goal.

Former Liverpool striker Rush believes Klopp isn’t lacking a goal-scoring centre-forward as the Reds look to win their first Premier League title.

“I don’t think they need a poacher though I know everybody likes to see that. The way they’re playing is different now and Jurgen Klopp is rotating everyone,” said Rush, speaking exclusively to 888sport.

“There isn’t a main striker and you have Firmino, Coutinho, Lallana and Sturridge who are rotating and adapting to each other. When one runs into a space the other moves wide left for example and it’s called a football brain and that’s what is needed.

“They’re not just playing in one position whereas an out-and-out goalscorer will just stay in the one space.

“With so many different people scoring it’s made Liverpool a better team.”

Liverpool are in second place in the Premier League table and a point behind leaders Chelsea.
