Ian Wright delivers glowing verdict on Chelsea star ahead of Tottenham clash

Ian Wright believes that Diego Costa deserves more credit for his performances for Chelsea in recent seasons.

The Spanish striker has had his fair share of critics since his arrival at Stamford Bridge from Atletico Madrid but few would argue that he is one of the top strikers in the Premier League.

Costa once again proved the difference on Sunday afternoon when he scored Chelsea’s only goal of the game in the 1-0 win at Middlesbrough to life the Blues to the top of the Premier League table.

Arsenal legend Wright has revealed that he is a huge fan of the Chelsea striker and says that he deserves more credit for his game.

Writing in his column for The Sun, Wright said: “I have a message to all those who say Diego Costa has finally got his game under control: It always was.

“Costa is in the form of his life right now and is the reason, above all others, why Chelsea are on top of the table.”

He added: “Costa is a player who gets in the psyche of defenders even before they are on the pitch. Someone they’ll be thinking of days before the game.

“He is the master of all those tricks I used to try in my playing days, when you’d look for anything to give you that slight advantage.”

Costa will be expecting to feature for Chelsea when the Blues return to Premier League action on Saturday with a crunch clash against bitter London rivals Tottenham at Stamford Bridge.
