Ian Wright makes Champions League prediction about Arsenal this season

The Arsenal legend rules out the possibility of Arsene Wenger's side winning the Champions League this season

Ian Wright has poured cold water on talk of Arsenal winning the Premier League title this season.

The Gunners had the chance to secure top spot in Champions League Group A on Wednesday night if the north London side managed to beat Paris Saint-Germain at The Emirates.

However, the Ligue 1 holders made the breakthrough in the first half thanks to Edinson Cavani’s close-range finish after the pair played out a 1-1 draw at Parc des Princes earlier this season.

Arsenal were level before half-time thanks to Olivier Giroud’s penalty before Marco Verratti’s own goal handed the hosts a fortuitous second-half lead.

But Brazil international Lucas Moura levelled with a powerful header with 17 minutes remaining to peg Arsenal back and hand control of the group to PSG with one game remaining.

Arsene Wenger’s side face the prospect of another difficult last-16 draw if PSG comfortably beat Bulgarian minnows Ludogorets in their final group-stage fixture.

Former Arsenal striker Wright isn’t feeling confident about the north London side’s chances of winning Europe’s premier club competition.

“Judging Arsenal’s last three performances, you can’t see a team that can win the Champions League. Not for me unfortunately,” Wright told BT Sport.

“Something is going to have to change and change drastically in the teams, like three of four players have got to really kick in.”
