Ian Wright: This Man United signing still isn’t doing enough
The Arsenal legend is critical of Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Ian Wright says he has been disappointed with Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s impact at Manchester United.
The 35-year-old centre-forward moved to the Red Devils on a free transfer in the summer window following Jose Mourinho’s appointment.
Ibrahimovic scored four times in his opening three appearances for Manchester United to suggest that his transition to the Premier League would be seamless.
However, Ibrahimovic scored once in 10 fixtures to prompt criticism of the former AC Milan and Barcelona striker, which included a six-game drought in the Premier League.
Mourinho, though, confirmed that Manchester United would be utilising their option to extend Ibrahimovic’s current deal for an additional season until the end of the 2017-18 campaign.
However, former Arsenal striker Wright has explained why he wants to see more from the ex Inter Milan and Paris Saint-Germain forward.
“It is Zlatan Ibrahimovic. I don’t think he’s had a great season up to this point. Maybe he is getting used to Premier League,” Wright told The Sun Goals app.
“He has scored some great goals. I still don’t believe we have seen the best of football from him.
“He can’t play any worse than the way it has being going. We haven’t seen enough, given the world-class player he was. He isn’t doing enough for the team.”
Manchester United are in sixth place in the Premier League table and nine points behind Mourinho’s former club Chelsea.
The Red Devils will host West Ham at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
