Jamie Carragher has his say after Liverpool's 2-0 win over Leeds United in the EFL Cup on Tuesday night
Jamie Carragher has taken to social media to reveal that he is hoping for big things from Ben Woodburn in the seasons to come after the teenager became Liverpool’s youngest goal-scorer on Tuesday night.
The youngster, who is a product of the Merseyside club’s academy, came off the bench to score the Reds’ second goal and secure a 2-0 win over Leeds United in the EFL Cup quarter-final clash at Anfield.
Divock Origi opened the scoring in the second half for the second game running as the Reds booked their place in the last four of the cup competition.
Carragher was at Anfield on pundit duty for Sky Sports on Tuesday night, and the former Liverpool defender used his personal Twitter account to suggest that Woodburn’s goal could be a good omen for him.
A lot of players who came through the academy & had big careers make an impact early through goals, Fowler, Owen, Woodburn & Carragher! ⚽️

Woodburn took Michael Owen’s record when he found the net in the 81st minute to become the club’s youngest goal-scorer, aged 17 years and 45 days.
Liverpool will now turn their attentions to Sunday’s trip to Bournemouth in the Premier League.
