Jamie Carragher: This is how Arsenal always leave you feeling
Jamie Carragher delivers his verdict on Arsenal's recent performances under Arsene Wenger
Jamie Carragher has claimed that Arsenal have a habit of leaving their supporters feeling “deflated”.
The north London side have faced plenty of criticism in recent seasons for failing to produce consistent performances and challenge for the top trophies.
Arsene Wenger has led his team to back to back FA Cup triumphs in 2014 and 2015 but his side have fallen short in the Premier League and Champions League.
Indeed, Arsenal have not won the Premier League title since their famous unbeaten triumph in the 2003-04 season and have failed to make progress in Europe.
And former Liverpool defender Carragher admits that the Gunners have a habit of not delivering on their promise.
Writing in his column for The Daily Mail before Saturday’s clash with Manchester United, Carragher said: “Here are Wenger’s Arsenal.
“They raise your hopes and promise so much but at times they will leave you feeling deflated.
“Destroying Chelsea at home but dropping points against Middlesbrough, as has been the case this season, perfectly illustrates them.”
Arsenal finished second in the Premier League and without a trophy last season, with the north London side ending up 10 points behind surprise champions Leicester City.
